ArchiGreen® intensive rooftop on “World’s best architecture” award winner building in 2018

ArchiGreen® is providing the green roof system for the Budapest-based Museum of ethnography which won the award for best European public building and also “WORLD’S BEST ARCHITECTURE” award at the international property awards in London in 2018.

The Museum of Ethnography, which is part of the Liget park project based in Budapest has won the fiercely contested title of World’s Best Architecture at the 2018 International Property Awards. The project was one of over 1700 entries from 115 countries, scrutinised by a judging committee, which is chaired by four UK Lords as well as over 80 global experts.

The International Property Awards identify the highest levels of achievement in real estate, development, architecture, interior design and marketing in both the residential and commercial sectors, focusing on services, sustainability, high living standards, ergonomics, originality and creativity.

The Museum of Ethnography was designed by Hungarian architectural studio, Napur Architect which had been selected ahead of BIG, OMA and Zaha Hadid Architects. Described by architects István Ferencz, Marcel Ferencz and György Détári as a “21st-century Baroque frame”, the design (for the Museum of Ethnography) resembles a giant skateboard ramp, with patterned walls and a grass-covered roof.

At ArchiGreen® we are grateful to have been able to deliver our green roof system on a building of this magnitude – a world-class establishment. The 7,000 m2 of ArchiGreen® intensive green roof system serves currently as a pleasant gathering point or community space for visitors to the Városliget – the area where the museum is established.

According to the jury, the building will fit in with its environment and create a new icon for the city. Other factors taken into consideration were sustainability, cost and the technological requirements of the collections.
